MEET REGGIE

NEW LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY

Growing up in West Houston, Reggie was inspired by his cousin, a United States marine Corps Sergeant, to serve his country.  In June 1967, after graduating from San Jacinto High School, he enlisted in the Marine Corps.  He served in Vietnam with the 3rd Batallion 3rd Marine Division during the 1968 Tet Offensive.  Even though he recieved an Honorable Discharge in May, he continued serving in the Corps until retiring in 1996 as a Master Gunnery Sergeant.  The Presidential Citation Award and the American-Vietnamese Campaign Medal are amoung the numerous medals Reggie was awarded for service to his country.

Reggie settled his family in Galena park and began working as a volunteer in the community.  His selfless efforts as a language interpreter with the local police department soon evolved into challenging opportunities.  Reggie began intervening with gang members to ease tensions between rival gangs.  This led to becoming a member of the Texas Gang Task Force and working with school districts to keep students in school and furthering their education.  Years later Reggie sees the rewards of his work:  almost every day a young person stops to thank him for taking an interest in their life and getting them back on the right path.

Reggie's commitment to serve his country carries over in many aspects of his life.  He has served as a Municipal Judge for the City of Galena park.  Governor Rick Perry appionted him to the Texas Military Facilities Comission.  He has served as a Board Member for "The Bridge," as shelter for abused women and their children.  Reggie's compassion never ceases --- especially for Marines and their families.  During fteh recent deployment of the 23rd Marine Division from Houston, he made certain that children of Marines and Sailors had school supplies to begin the school year.  At Thanksgiving, Reggie was instrumental in obtaining grocery gift certificates for those families.

Reggie has worked tirelessly as a grassroots activist in a community which is traditionally non-Republican.  He has served on several Harris County Republican Party committees.  Reggie has been an Associate Menber of San Jacinto Republican Women as well as Texas Tea Party Republican National Hispanic Assembly-Harris County and, in 2005 was electd Texas Chairman.  He is a member of the Sheriffs Association of Texas, He served on the Outreach Committee as well as the Veterans Committee of RNHA-National.

Reggie's favorite pastimes are fishing on the Texas Gulf Coast and hunting on his ranch in the Hill Country.  However his passion is spending time with his family.  Reggie has been married to his high school sweetheart, Linda, for 46 years.  They have two beautiful daughters, two extraordinary granddaughters, and 5 years ago were blessed with a remarkable grandson.
